Writing A Book

Recently an old dream has begun to resurface - writing a book.

This can't be a right now dream, since I'm actively working on my 'transfer of ordination' paper - but that process should be complete by the end of the year.

The $64.00 question is, what kind of a book should I write - and its corollary question, what kind needs to be written?

(Of course, the most important question is what does God want me to do? Not all dreams come from Him.)

Should this be a Christian novel - or a novel that could reach those who are not Christians - or a book of poetry (wrote poetry many years ago, but few buy these any more) - or a historical work - or theological - or birding (such as a book on Christian birding) - or...? What do you think? Would love feedback on this. Please feel free to post a comment or email me (pastoral@princetonfreechurch.net).

Hmmm...a poet...who knew?? LOL!That really is a good question, it seems to me that if you have a desire to write a book, somewhere deep inside you would have an idea what you'd like to write it about. "Christian Birding" sounds intriguing. I'm not exactly sure what that would be, but it sounds like something you'd be particularly good at. Good luck to you in your future writing endeavors.

Here I was thinking Sci Fi, and you didn't even mention that.
You could start the next Star Trek craze, maybe with a Chritian view point?

To qtpies7

Had thought about Star Trek/Science Fiction, but see a couple of problems:

1) My science isn't terribly strong
2) My Christian approach to life is dramatically different from recent Star Trek books, could make for an acceptance problem

However, I could write a short story & submit it to their annual publication - understand that is how they choose new authors.

Thanks for the idea.

to i'm losing it!

Perhaps a book that mixes Sherburne Refuge and/or central MN birding and faith in a diary type of format for 2009?

I was thinking you could write a book on your more recent sermons, Myths in Christianity
